FreedomBox and System Access provide easy to use, fully
featured, mobile access to Windows and the Internet for
blind, visually impaired or physically disabled users.
The FreedomBox Internet application suite integrates web
browsing, email, streaming media, instant messaging, and
more in a consistent, fully accessible user interface.
Users may customize FreedomBox and have fully personalized
Internet access anywhere. System Access provides highly
automated and transparent access to the Windows operating
system and numerous applications, including Microsoft
Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Reader, Skype, Winamp,
and many other popular titles. System Access also makes
the U3 Launchpad accessible so users can manage their
U3 smart drives with ease. Because FreedomBox and System
Access are U3 smart, users can immediately run them from
their U3 smart drives on any U3-capable computer, including
well-secured computers in public places. No other assistive
technology provides this combination of functionality
and mobility. Says Calvo, It truly is accessibility anywhere.
attracted us to Serotek was the fact that they were designing
products with the understanding that not everyone is a
computer expert, said Steve Barclay, Aroga's Director
of Customer Care, [Serotek products] require almost no
training to use. In order to access this kind of information
previously, a visually impaired user might have needed
weeks of training. Now we can have them up and running
in a day.
FreedomBox Network delivers full Internet and Web capability
to people who may have never before used a computer. At
the same time, it delivers e-mail, search, Web management,
and remote computing tools powerful enough for the most
sophisticated business user. Additional products, such
as the Key to Freedom and the PassKey, allow people with
disabilities to make any computer accessible. In a country
like Canada this is a huge advantage, said Barclay, Many
people with disabilities have been unable to get any kind
of computer training because they lived in a remote location
and there was no local resource or person capable of helping
them. Now we can connect directly to them and provide
one-on-one training without ever having to leave the office.
