Serotek Honored with da Vinci Award®

Leading technology company earns prestigious award for creating unparalleled accessibility products and software

MINNEAPOLIS – September 30, 2005 – Serotek Corporation, the leading provider of accessible Internet and application access software and systems, is pleased to announce they have been chosen as a recipient of the 2005 da Vinci Awards®. Presented by the Engineering Society of Detroit and the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the da Vinci Awards recognize individuals, organizations and corporations in the engineering, construction and technical fields whose design innovations have exceeded legally mandated requirements to further empower people with disabilities. One of only ten companies in the United State chosen to receive the da Vinci Award in 2005, Serotek Corporation is being honored for their creation of FreedomBox, and for continued leadership in accessible technology and software products.

Named for renowned painter, Leonardo da Vinci, the da Vinci Awards annually recognize the most innovative developments and research in adaptive and assistive technology that embrace the Universal Design principle. This recognition helps stimulate the marketplace to invest in and develop further creative advances, ultimately enabling everyone to participate and contribute in all aspects of society.

Since the company was formed, Serotek Corporation has been developing technology solutions that allow anyone, regardless of physical limitations, disabilities, lack of Internet savvy or access to computer technology, the ability to access and command all of the resources of the Internet. In 2001, Serotek developed the FreedomBox family of products and services that deliver full Internet and Web capabilities to anyone by virtually using voice command alone. Users of the FreedomBox Network can not only access the Internet, and create new Word documents and review PowerPoint and Excel documents, but can also query their home systems from anywhere via the Internet, search for documents and retrieve, modify, and save them and/or attach them to e-mails. Additional Serotek products, such as the Key to Freedom and the PassKey, allow people with disabilities to make any computer accessible.

“We are honored to be recognized with this prestigious award,” said Mike Calvo , President, Serotek Corporation. “Serotek is proud to be a leader in providing accessibility software and technology, and will continue to develop innovative products that best meet the needs of all individuals, thus continuing the core mission of our company.”

Serotek Corporation will be presented with the da Vinci Award during the 5 th annual Dinner of da Vinci® that will be held on October 21, 2005 , at the Ritz Carlton in Dearborn , Michigan . Previous da Vinci Award winning companies include IBM, GM Mobility Center, Walt Disney World Company, Universal Parks and Resorts, and the Delphi Corporation.
